Golden Gems Ministries

Golden Gems are active in many ministries associated with Immanuel. Here is a list of opportunities that many of our seniors adults participate in:

IBC Heritage Members Ministry and Outreach
Many of our older IBC members are not able to get out and attend church because of physical problems. These shut-ins need visits and encouragement during this chapter of their lives. A number of them live in retirement or nursing homes, where there are also others who need a visit in the name of Jesus. This ministry is directed by Carolyn Moser and Helen Piedra. If you would like to have more information or would like to join a group of folks who would visit or call these special folks, please give Bro. Mark a call.
IBC Food and Clothing Ministry
Immanuel has a great ministry to our community though the Food and Clothing Pantry, directed by Betty DePriest. From time to time, Betty needs assistance with sorting clothing and food and other tasks. If you would like to have more information or would like to join a group of folks who would be available to help as needed, please give Bro. Mark a call.
IBC Salt & Light Mobile Food Pantry
During the Wilson Co. Schools Fall and Spring breaks, Immanuel is given a list of families in the school system that are of low income and need some food assistance. We purchase a trailer of food from Second Harvest Food Bank, unpack and sort the items, and distribute them evenly to the families who are invited to these events. As we are providing for their physical needs, we also have opportunity to talk to these families about their spiritual needs as well. If you would like to have more information or would like to join a group of folks who can assist with these events, please give Bro. Mark a call.
IBC Fix-It Squad Ministry
Does one of our shut-ins or senior adults have a clogged sink? Toilet won’t flush? Perhaps there’s a light out that they can’t reach, or some other light duty maintenance issue at home? Instead of paying the extra costs of calling a plumber, electrician, etc., we have some workers who are looking to serve our senior adults at Immanuel and are willing to come and take a look at these problems to see if they can help. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this group of folks who has knowledge of and can assist with light home maintenance items, please give Bro. Mark a call.
Timberline Campground Ministry
We have another great ministry opportunity to those who are staying at the Timberline Campground in Lebanon. These people have various life needs. Christian volunteers are needed to lead Bible studies, help cook a few meals, teach some basic life skills, tell someone their testimony and love for Christ, etc. There’s talk of a possible Vacation Bible School for the kids there in the warm months. And as always, donations would help buy the food for the cooks, paperware, etc. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this group of folks who minister at Timberline, please give Bro. Mark a call.
PHOEBE Ministry to Widows
Phoebe Ministry is a Christian ministry of widows reaching widows. This ministry seeks to help widows build relationships and help them find healing and new identity in Jesus Christ through being actively involved in service to the community and to the body of Christ. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this ministry, call Bro. Mark.
GriefShare Ministry
Those who have lost spouses, family members, and other loved ones because of death go through many emotional trials. Our IBC professional counselors, Bill and Melissa Ross, lead group classes that address these important issues and provide strength and encouragement. If you are interested in attending a GriefShare Class, please give Bro. Mark a call.
Compassionate Hands Homeless Ministry
Wilson County churches are working together to serve as emergency shelters for 15 weeks in the winter. In a program modeled after Nashville’s Room in the Inn, participating churches open their building and provide volunteers one night a week. Also, volunteers from other churches are needed to assist with meal preparation, registration, and assisting in the church shelters. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this ministry, please give Bro. Mark a call.
ESL Teaching Ministry
Volunteers from our community churches work with children during the school year to help them with the English language, teach them about Christ, and help them with spiritual needs. Directed by Elaine Pearson, this ministry meets on Wednesday evenings at First Baptist Church in Lebanon. You do not have to be a teacher; volunteers are greatly needed for other tasks as well. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this ministry, please give Bro. Mark a call.
Wilson County Jail Ministry to Women
Christian volunteers are working together to reach out to women who are currently incarcerated in our county jail. Ladies are needed to do tasks as simple as writing letters, assisting in Bible study, sharing your testimony, etc. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this ministry, please give Bro. Mark a call.
Meals on Wheels Ministry
Volunteers are working with our Lebanon Senior Center to provide meals to seniors who need help in our area. The meals are prepared at the Senior Center; volunteers simply deliver the meals in the name of Jesus and offer an encouraging word and witness. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this program, please give Bro. Mark a call.
Courthouse Prayer Ministry
Each Monday morning at 10:00am, Christians are invited for a concentrated time of prayer at the Wilson County Courthouse, especially for the leadership of our city, county, state, and nation, as well as praying about current events that affect us as the children of God. For more information, please give Bro. Mark a call.
Soldier Care Christmas Project
Later this year, we will be preparing CARE packages for our soldiers. These packages include snacks, many useful and practical items, along with a Plan of Salvation New Testament and our new IBC Choir CD (to be recorded this August). We will need volunteers to help stuff the boxes and prepare them for shipment. If you would like to have more information or would like to join this project, please give Bro. Mark a call.
Operation Christmas Child
Later this year, we will be preparing “shoeboxes” with Christmas items for children all over the world. These gifts do not only bring joy, they also bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ! If you would like to have more information or would like to join this project, please give Bro. Mark a call.
