I am originally from the Union City area in Northwest Tennessee where I met and married the love of my life, Zannie, who is from the Clarksville area. We have two sons and a daughter plus four wonderful granddaughters.
I was raised in church and was baptized at 11 but not until I was 34 years old did I realize that I had a lot of religion but no relationship; I thank God for revealing that to me! I began my Christian education ministry as Sunday School director before our family served as Mission Service Corps missionaries with NAMB helping plant a church in the Seattle area from 1991-1993. I received my B.S. in Christian Education from Mid-Continent University in 2001. The next year, I was called as Minister of Education at Clements Baptist Church in Athens, Alabama (a LifeWay Standout Church) until God moved me in 2010 to Decatur Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama as Education/Discipleship Pastor before retiring and moving to the Lebanon area in 2019. Upon retiring from staff ministry, I have put a focus on my consulting/coaching/training ministry, Sunday School/Home Group Trainers.
One of my greatest joys is having had the opportunity to train small group leaders for LifeWay, state conventions in 16 states, many local churches, plus leaders in 4 foreign countries.
Spending time with my family is number one preference but eating Italian ain’t bad either. My yard takes a pretty high ranking in the summer. Vol football in the fall is the thing!
“And he himself gave some to be…pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry…” Ephesians 4:11, 12
…Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen
