Special Needs (H.O.P.E.)

H.O.P.E (Helping Others Providing Encouragement) Sunday School department exists to provide a learning environment for those with developmental disabilities. We have two classes with ages varying from young children to adults. Some children are mainstreamed into the Children’s Department. Our teaching styles are modified depending on the specific needs. Presently in the A (Access) class there are 15 to 18 classmates with three to four teachers. In the B (Barnabas) class there are 8 to 10 members with one teacher.

On Wednesday nights we have the members tell us their prayer request to the best of their abilities. There are a host of different activities which include: review the previous weeks’ lessons. We practice having members sing solos, practice bells, crafts and skits.

H.O.P.E (Helping Others Providing Encouragement)
In January we start bowling and runs through March with a banquet at the end. This is done at Pro Bowl West.
In March we have HOPE Ministry Day in the evening worship service. We showcase what we have learned throughout the year for our congregation and families.
In April baseball starts at the Challenger League in Mount Juliet. Jeff Schnelle is in charge of that. [email protected]
Quarterly we participate in different activities sponsored by The Wilson County Baptist Association. Next one is on May 13th
In June H.O.P.E. VBS (Special Needs VBS) is the first Saturday after the Children’s VBS from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Summer bowling league starts on June 13th.
In July the Tennessee Baptist Convention has two one week camps, Linden and Carson. Mark Anderson [email protected]

In September bowling starts on the 12th and ends before Christmas.
In October we have a hay ride the last Saturday.
In December we have a Christmas Party the first of the month.
